Warning of collection purporting to be on behalf of St Mary’s Hospice

The warning circulated on Tuesday from Moor Green Lane about a woman purporting to be collecting for St Mary’s Hospice led to similar reports from other nearby roads. As a result the Hospice was contacted and subsequently put this message on Twitter:

“Sadly, it has been reported that someone has been knocking on doors in Selly Park, Northfield and Moseley asking for donations to the Hospice using one of our collection tins. They have also asked for people’s bank details. This person is NOT one of our fundraisers and it is not our policy to collect donations door-to-door. The police have been informed and have asked that if anyone receives a similar cold call to their door, they should call the police as soon as possible. Thank you.”
