Love Reading? Updated March 2021

On 16th March 2021, some Birmingham libraries re-opened for an ‘Order and Collect’ service. This service is for collecting pre-ordered books only. Details of the libraries open for this service can be seen here.

Going places! Birmingham’s Mobile Library Service order-and-collect service hit the roads again on 16th March. Everyone is welcome to join the Mobile Library: you can register a new membership or you can use your existing Birmingham library card on the vehicle. The Mobile Library has access to the full library catalogue; it operates a free reservation service for any items you may wish to order. You can return items from other Birmingham libraries at any Mobile Library stop too. The Mobile Library vehicle is also fitted with a lift allowing for easy access. Let the mobile library service know what YOU want here!

As the library services gradually reopen, the ‘Books by Post’ service that was introduced to operate during periods of national lockdown will be reduced, and then cease. Last orders for the ‘Books by Post’ service will be 1st April.

Free e-lending and other online services continue, which provide access to a huge range of digital resources for adults and children including e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines, and e-newspapers. More information is available here.

If you have any questions about the services available during lockdown, the Library of Birmingham can be contacted by phone or email: enquiries@libraryofbirmingham.com – 0121 242 4242
