Are you ready to spot some wildlife? The City Nature Challenge has begun! The City Nature Challenge is an annual competition between cities all over the world to see how many wild species their citizens can spot over the space of four days. This year’s nature-spotting challenge began yesterday, 30th April, and continues over the bank holiday weekend, ending on Monday 3rd May.
Message from the Wildlife Trust: “Remember, taking part couldn’t be easier – simply download the iNaturalist app to your smartphone or tablet and use it to upload photos of any wildlife you see from your windows, gardens or whilst out amongst green spaces. All of your records, from dandelions to dunnocks, will help us to show the rest of the world just how wild our region really is!
Will you wake up early to take in the wonderful sound of bird song on International Dawn Chorus Day (Sunday 2nd May)? Will you stay up late to try and spot a bat? Will you record the plants you see bursting through the pavement or on verges whilst out for a walk?
