Birmingham Archives & Community Heritage Update – January 2021

Here, you can see Birmingham City Council’s latest Archives & Community Heritage Update. This edition is the first of 2021: In addition to an online jigsaw, and a brain-teasing word puzzle to keep you busy, this month’s features include an update on BCC’s Children’s ‘Writing Black History’ workshops and a guest piece about the bombing of St. Mary’s Church, Acocks Green. There is also  a witty article on new year’s resolutions, describing how one of the first British temperance societies was formed in Birmingham, with an excerpt of a Victorian temperance society publication: “The Wonderful Advantages of Drunkenness”, which is of course intended ironically!
